The details

What is usually covered

Glass damage is normally covered under comprehensive coverage, not collision. It is the same part of the policy that covers theft, weather and animal strikes, so if you carry comprehensive, you are most likely covered.

You pay your deductible, and we put up to $100 toward it. If your deductible is $50 or $100, that means nothing out of pocket. If it is higher, that is $100 off what you would otherwise pay.

Chip repair is often covered with no deductible at all, because insurers would rather pay for a repair now than a windshield later.

What we need from you

Your insurance company, your policy number, and the date the damage happened. If you have already started a claim, the claim number too.

That is usually it. We contact the insurer, get the authorisation and bill them directly. You do not need to get quotes from three shops or visit an adjuster.

Your right to choose the shop

Insurers often steer customers toward a shop in their network. You are not required to use them. You choose who works on your vehicle, and your insurer pays a qualified shop of your choice.

Most insurers route glass claims through a third-party administrator rather than handling them in-house, and some of those administrators are owned by a glass company that competes for the same work. That means the person taking your claim may have a financial interest in where your car ends up.

If you are told on the phone that you have to use a particular shop, call us and we will walk you through it. It comes up often.

How long approval takes

Usually the same day, often within the hour. We will tell you as soon as it comes back, and in many cases we can do the work the same day the claim is approved.

If you would rather not use insurance

Sometimes it is not worth it. A deductible higher than the job, or you simply prefer not to file. We will quote you a straight price up front either way.

Chip repair at $99 is often cheaper than the excess on a claim, so for a chip it frequently makes sense to pay directly.

Calibration and the claim

If your vehicle needs ADAS calibration after the replacement, that goes on the same claim. We include it rather than leaving you to arrange and pay for it separately, and you get documentation for your records.

How it works

Four steps, and we do three of them

  1. Call or get a quote

Tell us the vehicle and the damage. We will tell you what the job costs before insurance is involved.

  2. Give us your policy details

Insurer, policy number, date of damage. We take it from there.

  3. We get the approval

Usually the same day. We deal with the insurer, not you.

  4. We do the work and bill them

You pay your deductible, less up to $100. We invoice the insurance company directly.

We come to you. No drop-off, no waiting room.

Questions

Frequently asked

Will a glass claim raise my rates?

A glass-only claim is usually treated differently from an at-fault collision claim, and many customers see no change. We cannot speak for your carrier or your policy though, so if you are concerned, call your agent and ask how they treat a comprehensive glass claim before you file. We are happy to quote you a straight price either way.

Do I have to use the shop my insurance recommends?

No. You choose the shop, and your insurer pays a qualified shop of your choice. If you are told otherwise, call us and we will walk you through it.

What if I do not have comprehensive coverage?

Then glass damage is not covered and you would pay out of pocket. We will quote you a straight price, and chip repair at $99 is often cheap enough that a claim would not be worth it anyway.

How much is my deductible going to cost me?

Whatever your policy says, less up to $100 that we put toward it. If your deductible is $50 or $100, that is nothing out of pocket.

How long does approval take?

Usually the same day, often within the hour. We will tell you as soon as it comes back.

Which insurance companies do you work with?

All major carriers, and we are listed with the main third-party processors. Our shop phone number is usually all they need to find us and send the paperwork.

Is ADAS calibration covered too?

Usually, when it accompanies a covered windshield replacement. We include it on the same claim rather than leaving you to arrange it separately.
